On November 9th, 2023, the Canadian Printing Awards celebrated the best in Canadian printing. Hemlock Display was thrilled to be recognized with a win for our work on Molson Hop Valley T-Shirt Display.
Thank you to PrintAction Magazine and all the judges for this recognition. Congratulations to all the 2023 Canadian Printing Awards winners!
The Molson Hop Valley T-Shirt Display project was brought to us by our partnering company, PDI. With our unmatched screen printing capabilities and the in-house knowledge of our technical team, we were able to execute to the highest standard, which we were grateful to see acknowledged at the Canadian Printing Awards.
This project was printed using a 65lpi line screen, which is one of the highest resolutions that can be reproduced in screen printing. Paired with a 380 mesh, the result was smooth gradient transitions and the clearest, sharpest image achievable.
This project was printed on 32ECT B Flute White. Corrugated for strength and versatility, this choice allowed the display to be folded down to fit into a smaller shipping container, reducing packaging costs.
Beyond line screen and mesh count, alterations of the artwork were done to address aspects that would otherwise be hard to reproduce on a screen press. Firstly, the legal line was only 6pt type. To achieve the best result, we changed the CMYK black to 100% black and overprinted on top of the cyan, magenta, and yellow. Secondly, the wood grain pattern effect overlapped gradient colours in the background. To mitigate unexpected results of the transparent overlay, the colour blend was adjusted to be primarily black. Utilizing black as the main component in the colour blend helped to reduce the colour cast on the grey wood grain pattern.
In the end, the mastery of our team meant the client received an exemplary piece. If you’re interested in working with our award-winning team, reach out to your sales rep or contact us today.
